A logo design for a rock band | ロゴデザイン（バンド編）

Two of my friends started a new band called "Moneyqueen," with their new member. I couldn't quite understand how they came to a decision with this band name... Apparently they are just playing with the word, "Moneyqueen," which sounds similar to "mannequin," (at least in Japanese), and there is no secret meaning behind it.
Originally they wanted me to design their site, but since there was no symbol for their band yet, I've decided to create a logo first.
First, a sketch.... just like I did for the Peruvian restaurant, HUANCHACO's logo. But I had a hard time imagining the kind of rock they play, so I couldn't come up with many ideas. Not only that, the design was highly affected by what I like... I did try my best concentrating on coming up with ideas associate with "money," "queen," and "mannequin."

My friends were pretty helpful. They have solid idea of their likes and dislikes. I have put their likes together and ended up with the logo bellow. I think the logo shows the image of their band pretty well. I secretly thought of making pin badges with this.

ロックのバンドをやっている友達が新しいボーカルを迎え新たなバンド名に変え、活動を再スタートした。バンド名はMoneyqueen。この名前になった経緯はどうにもつかめなかったが、マネキンとかぶせているらしい。裏に隠された意味がそれほどなくても、第三者が勝手に想像を膨らますことができそうな興味深いネーミングだと思う。
まだバンドのシンボルがない彼らのために、ロゴをデザインすることに。
ペルー料理レストラン HUANCHACOのロゴの時と同様、まずはスケッチから。
彼らの曲がどんなロックなのか、いまいちうまくつかめずスケッチは難攻。メンバーの個人的な好みや私自身の好みを取り入れ過ぎたロックっぽくないアイディアばかり浮かんでしまって大変[*1参照]。 しかも数が浮かばず・・・。 とりあえず、マネキン、マネー、またはクイーンを表現した感じのロゴが１つくらいほしい・・・とがんばってみる。
幸い、意見はしっかり伝えてくれる子達で、「逆にロック過ぎなくていい」らしく、好き嫌いもはっきりしていた。スケッチ内で彼らが気に入った部分を統合した結果、良い具合にまとまった[*2参照]。 シンプル イズ ザ ベストだった私はどこへ？と一瞬思ってしまうけれども、バンドの雰囲気に見合ったロゴだと思う。メンバーの一人のジャケットにバッジがいっぱい付いていたのを見、こっそり、これでバッジが作れるな・・・と思っていたら、同じ事を考えてくれたらしく、今後、バッジになるのが楽しみ。
