財布 兼 母子手帳ケースを作ってみた | Crafting a wallet that holds my mother and child health handbook

女性のカバンの中は、なにかとカオスになりがち。
特に子供が小さいと荷物が多く、バッグの中はア・ロット・オブ・バッグズ(複)・イン・バッグ。

ネットサーフィンをしていた時、母子手帳も入れられる財布をレザークラフトした方の投稿をたまたま見つけて決心。

カードは計16枚入り、ファスナー1つと区切りもたくさんある超大作。

昼は仕事で夜と週末は子供と過ごしているので、子供が寝た後ちょこちょこと作業していたせいか、全て手縫いのせいか、9月の半ばから11月の初めまでかかってしまった。

全てフェイクレザー。(布、ファスナー、糸、裁縫道具までもが全て百均。)
少し重くカード入れ部分がボリューミーになってしまい、意外とたくさんは入らなかったので、素材と型制作を反省。

こんな感じで一度紙に起こし、組み立てて見ては、微調整をしたつもりだけれど、縫い始めてからもう一度裁断し直したパーツもあったりする。

うちの地域は母子手帳が小さめなのでこのサイズ。

あとは、参考にしたブログに記載されていた工程を見よう見まねで地道にチクチクと裁縫。

もしプレゼントとかで作るならば、使い勝手的にお財布寄りでなく母子手帳寄りの型と、ちゃんとした布と糸にしたい。

ひとまず第２子が１歳になるまでの2018年は重宝しそう。

I was net-surfing one day, and found a blog that shows how to make a leather wallet that holds a mother and child health book. 

I immediately thought I want to make one, too!

Here again, my craving for crafting began.

I used fake-leather instead of real leather since I don't know much about leather crafting. When I finished making the wallet and actually put cards and the book in, I regretted that I didn't choose a different fabric for inside because it became so thick that I couldn't put as much stuff as I wanted.

1. Paper pattern

Starting with creating a paper pattern for my original wallet by sketching and transferring into illustrator data, I built paper mocks several times to make sure that measurements are right.

I referred the blog I found for the sawing steps.

It took me forever because fake-leather was so thick, and it was hard to saw through layers of fabrics. I started in mid-September and could not finish until the beginning of November.

If I would ever decide to make something like this again, I will definitely think more about what fabric to use. But so far, I am happy with what I have made and will be using it for at least a year.
